    Workers Compensation Insurance Issues

    The Insurance industry is facing a number of issues related to workers compensation insurance. A number of issues relate to the overall economy such as declining payroll, medical inflation, and changing tort costs. All of these affect insurer top line revenue and bottom line profitability. Dr. Robert Hartwig, President of the Insurance Information Institute presented some of the 2008 economic issues facing the workers compensation insurance market.     Technology is one way in which insurers, risk managers, and TPA's are addressing these issues through more efficient claims handling, better control of medical and indemnity overpayments, and earlier and more accurate identification of problem claims.
